Paul is originally from West Yorkshire where he did an apprenticeship in Engineering in the 1980s. Having completed his apprenticeship he joined HM Armed Forces where he served in ‘Mercer’s Troop’ in 7th Parachute Regiment RHA.
Having left the Army, Paul went on to complete a Masters Degree and subsequently joined the Police Service where he qualified to Detective Sergeant. During his time in the Police he studied for and completed a PhD in Psychology.
Today Paul’s professional position is as a Chief Technology Officer for a USA Corporation, working in the field of risk management, finance (payments) coupled with customer engagement and retention.
Paul was first elected in 2019. He has a special interest in Children and Young People, including those with Special Needs and is an active supporter of the National Autistic Society.
He currently holds the position of Chairman of the Children & Young People’s Scrutiny Committee, sits on the Corporate Parenting Panel as well as sitting on the Fostering Panel and Appeals Panel.
